The Sacred Call: A Temple of Learning in Ruins

In Sanatana Dharma, Vidya (knowledge) is revered as the highest manifestation of the divine mother, Maa Saraswati. Ancient wisdom reminds us:

“Vidya cannot be stolen by thieves, seized by kings, divided among brothers, nor does it burden the bearer. It grows perpetually when shared. The wealth of knowledge is paramount among all forms of wealth.”

Yet, in the quiet rural heartlands of Antu, Pratapgarh (Uttar Pradesh), the sacred vessel meant to impart this divine wealth stands broken and desolate.

Here, at a local government-aided village primary school serving underprivileged rural children, innocence meets unimaginable hardship every morning. The institution that was built to shield children from generational poverty is collapsing brick by brick.

Cracked, unstable walls threaten to crumble under harsh weather. The concrete roof has eroded over decades of neglect; during the monsoons, rainwater cascades directly onto broken wooden benches, soaking textbooks and muddying pencil drawings. With classrooms turned into hazardous zones, over 120 innocent children are forced out of their schoolrooms to sit huddled on damp ground beneath a makeshift, rusted tin shed—scorched in summer heat and shivering during cold winter rains.

The Silent Cry of Our Daughters: The Struggle for Dignity

Among the darkest realities of this village school is the silent suffering endured by young girls.

In our sacred traditions, every daughter is revered as an avatar of Kanya Swaroop—the living embodiment of Maa Lakshmi and Maa Durga. Yet, in this school, these young daughters are deprived of basic human dignity. The lone sanitary unit on the premises is completely shattered: no functional doors, broken drainage pipes, no water connection, and zero privacy or hygiene.

For little girls and growing adolescent students, every school day turns into hours of unbearable mental distress and physical agony. Many go without drinking water for six to seven hours in the sweltering heat of Uttar Pradesh, desperately holding back natural urges to avoid having to use dilapidated, open surroundings. Many others fall sick with chronic infections, and heartrendingly, bright young girls are routinely pulled out of school entirely once they attain puberty—denied an education not because they lack passion, but because their school lacks a private, functional toilet.

How can our society speak of uplifting rural India when our Devi Swaroop daughters must surrender their education and self-respect just for lack of four safe walls?

Basic Amenities Denied: Childhood Under Rain & Rubble

Education in Antu is currently an everyday battle against distress:

Dangerous, Cracking Classrooms: Deep structural fissures on exterior and load-bearing walls pose an active safety risk to children and teachers.
Leaking Ceilings: Torrential rains turn classrooms into waterlogged pools, driving children out under a leaking tin shed.
Severe Lack of Safe Drinking Water: Without clean RO filtration or sanitary storage tanks, children drink untreated, contaminated groundwater, leading to frequent illnesses.
