Ashad is just 8 years old, and until recently, he had never known what it felt like to stand on his own two feet. Born with a severe deformity in his leg, he spent his early years crawling or being carried by his parents. His world was confined, his future uncertain.

But everything changed when he received corrective surgery through Sanjeevani Social Welfare Society. For the very first time, Ashad stood tall—his small steps marking the beginning of a life filled with independence and hope. The joy in his parents’ eyes was beyond words; after years of helplessness, they saw their son walk.

Ashad’s story is not just his alone—it represents thousands of children whose futures have been rewritten through timely medical care.

The Harsh Reality for Families

In Varanasi and across Uttar Pradesh, countless families are struggling to raise children born with physical disabilities—whether it’s deformities in legs, hands, or other challenges at birth. For parents living in poverty, access to doctors, therapies, or surgeries is an impossible dream.

These children, left untreated, often grow up isolated, dependent, and unable to imagine a future of dignity. Families face emotional and financial despair, and without intervention, the cycle of suffering continues.

Sanjeevani Social Welfare Society: A Lifeline for Children with Disabilities

Founded in 2000 by Dr. Vidya Sagar Pandey, Sanjeevani Social Welfare Society has been dedicated to transforming the lives of children born with disabilities. Over the last decade, the organization has worked extensively in Varanasi and surrounding regions, with a clear mission: to ensure that no child is denied the right to walk, play, and dream because of poverty.’

• Therapies & Rehabilitation: More than 10,000 children with cerebral palsy and other special needs have received physiotherapy and rehabilitative care.
• Corrective Surgeries: Over 1,500 children have undergone life-changing corrective surgeries, giving them a chance at independence and a brighter future.
• Holistic Care: Families are supported with counseling, nutritional guidance, and follow-up care to ensure children continue to thrive after treatment.

About the NGO

Sanjeevani Social Welfare Society, founded in the year 2000 under the leadership of Dr. Vidya Sagar Pandey, has been working for more than two decades with a focus on children born with physical disabilities and special needs. What started as a small initiative in Varanasi has grown into a lifeline for thousands of families across Uttar Pradesh.

Through its dedicated work, Sanjeevani has already:

• Provided various therapies to more than 10,000 children with cerebral palsy and special needs, enabling them to achieve milestones once thought impossible.
• Conducted over 1,500 corrective surgeries, giving children a second chance at life—helping them walk, move, and live with dignity.
• Brought hope and independence to children and families who had lost faith in a better tomorrow.
