Kanwar Yatra Annadaan Maha Yagna
Project
What is Kanwar Yatra?
The Kanwar Yatra is one of the most revered spiritual pilgrimages observed during the holy month of Shravan Maas, a time specially devoted to Lord Shiva. Every year, millions of Shiva devotees, known as Kanwariyas, set out on a sacred foot journey to fetch the holy water of the Ganga River. This water, carried in specially designed slings called Kanwars, is offered to Lord Shiva in temples across the country, most notably at Jyotirlingas like Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi.

The act of walking barefoot for hundreds of kilometers symbolizes unwavering devotion, discipline, and inner surrender. For many, the journey is not just a ritual but a deep spiritual awakening that cleanses the soul and strengthens the bond with the divine. With chants of “Bol Bam” echoing in the air, and an atmosphere filled with collective devotion, the Kanwar Yatra becomes a moving celebration of faith, penance, and perseverance.
As Shravan Maas coincides with the monsoon season, the Yatra also reflects the spirit of renewal and rejuvenation, as seen both in nature and within the hearts of the devotees.

Standing by the Devotees with Devotion
These pilgrims, walking from Prayagraj and other sacred places to Varanasi, brave long distances, scorching heat, rain-soaked paths, and physical exhaustion, all while walking barefoot and carrying the heavy Kanwars on their shoulders. Despite these hardships, their faith remains unshaken.
Recognizing these challenges, it becomes our collective duty to ease their path through acts of compassion and support.
Offering Annadaan (free food), fresh fruits, clean drinking water, and basic medical care plays a crucial role in ensuring that their spiritual journey is completed with strength and safety. This support is not just a service—it is a form of Seva (selfless service) that invokes divine blessings.

Annadaan Seva with Shiv Shakti Foundation
In this sacred month of Shravan, Shiv Shakti Foundation has taken the noble initiative to serve the Kanwariyas walking towards Varanasi through its Kanwar Seva Campaign. Our mission is to provide:
- Nutritious meals (Annadaan)
- Fresh fruits and drinking water
- First aid, ORS, and basic medicines
Through this campaign, we aim to care for thousands of devotees who place their full trust in Mahadev and walk with unshakable devotion. But to continue and expand this effort, we need your support.
Your contribution will help us serve more pilgrims, ensuring that they receive the physical strength and relief they need to carry on their sacred journey.
Be a Part of This Sacred Seva
When you participate in Annadaan, especially for those walking in the name of Lord Shiva, your act of giving becomes a spiritual offering itself. It is believed that serving Kanwariyas during Shravan is equivalent to directly serving Lord Shiva.
Support now. Serve now. Seek blessings forever.
About The Shiv Shakti Foundation: Service, Sanctity, and Sustenance
The Shiv Shakti Foundation is a non-profit organization deeply rooted in the spiritual soil of Uttar Pradesh, dedicated to upholding the principles of dharma and selfless service (seva). Our mission is to honour the inherent divinity in every human being by serving those who are the pillars of our culture and those in dire need.
At the heart of our work is Annadan, the sacred offering of food. We diligently provide fresh, nutritious, and hygienic meals to Sadhus, purohits, and the poor and abandoned people in Varanasi and surrounding cities. We believe that by nourishing a Sadhu, we serve God; by feeding the hungry, we serve humanity.
However, our work extends beyond a single meal. The Shiv Shakti Foundation is committed to transforming the livelihoods of the poor and destitute. By offering consistent support, spiritual guidance, and a compassionate ear, we strive to restore dignity, hope, and a sense of belonging to those who have been forgotten by society. We see the Sadhus not only as recipients of our service but as the revered guardians of our ancient culture and heritage, and we aim to build a bridge of respect and understanding between them and the wider community.
Join Our Annadan Maha Yagna: During the auspicious Kanwar Yatra in Varanasi, your contribution can be a sacred offering, helping us nourish the bodies and souls of the deserving.
